WEATHER CONDITIONS

Season phenology:

Weather conditions:

Spring and summer were characterised by relatively high mean day temperature (June - +10.8^C, July - +18.7^C, August - +10.4^C).

Season temperature: warm
Season humidity:
Date of 50% snow-cover:
Date of ice-break on rivers:
Date of final loss of snow: mid May

BIOTIC CONDITIONS

Rodents abundance evaluation:

low

Breeding conditions:

Arctic Fox and Red Fox did not breed, their dens were unihabited. The most common among specialized on rodents avian predators was Long-tailed Skua (0.55 pair/sq km), while Rough-legged Buzzard occupied primarily riverine forest patches with a density of 0.07 pair/sq km. 19 wader species were recorded, their numbers were not high. The most common breeding species were Red-necked Phalarope (2.3 bird/sq km), Golden Plover (1.46 bird/sq km), Wood Sandpiper (1.21 bird/sq km), Bar-tailed Godwit (1.10 bird/sq km), Temmink's Stint (0.82 bird/sq km), Grey Plover (0.72 bird/sq km), Whimbrel (0.50 bird/sq km), Common Snipe (0.47 bird/sq km), and Dunlin (0.43 bird/sq km). Less abundant were Ringed Plover, Common Sandpiper, and Ruff; rare - Dotterel, Spotted Redshank, Terek Sandpiper, and Great Snipe. Unexpectedly were found on breeding Woodcock (upper reaches), and Pintail Snipe (lower reaches). Wader nest predation was low - 10-15%, breeding success by the time of fledging can be evaluated as 40-50%.

Rodent dynamics:

Numbers of lemmings (primarily Collared Lemming) and other rodents was very low.
